Heidi Part I ($3.99 on the iPad and $2.99 for the iPhone) is the beginning of an iPhone/iPad retelling of the classic Swiss children's book Heidi's Years of Wandering and Learning, written in 1880 by Johanna Spyri. In this segment, Heidi, who is an orphan living with her Aunt Dete, is brought to live with her grandfather in the mountains.
What's happening:Jay Bean ($2.99) is an original (it wasn't traditionally published) and unique story about a boy who is the only person in the world who has dreams...or so he thinks.
At 42 pages and with a lot of words per page, it's much longer than most ebooks for the iPad and iPhone and presents a significant challenge for young readers.
At first, Grandpa's Farm appears to be a simple click-the-animals-to-hear-a-noise app, but there’s actually a lot more to it.
The first screen is a simple tap game, but there are four additional educational games: a fishing game (colors), a pick-the-apples (colors and numbers), a bailing hay game (shapes) and a quiz (memory) for children to identify the animal noises.
The second book of the Heidi App series by JustKidsApps, Heidi Part II, is now available on the iTunes App Store!
At the end of Heidi Part I, Heidi, happily living in the mountains with Grandfather, was being taken away by her Aunt Dete to live with a rich family in Frankfurt. What happens next? Will she like Frankfurt? (I don't know...that lady in black looks pretty mean.) Will she be able to see Grandfather again? Find out in part two, released today!
The Heidi Apps are beautifully-illustrated, interactive picture books based on the original Heidi book by Swiss author Johanna Spyri, who wrote the world-famous children's book in 1879. The apps have "read myself" and "read to me" (in English or German) options and interactive audio elements to supplement the narrator's text.

What's There:Cinderella is an iPhone/iPad adaptation of the famous story, in which a young woman gets to give her mean sisters and stepmother the finger by winning the heart of a prince and living happily ever after. (Please note: She doesn't actually give anyone the finger.)
The narration, by a young girl instead of an adult, adds a nice feel to the story, and the illustrations all look like classical paintings.
