Bottom Line: An excellent number-sequencing game where children must identify the given numerical pattern to correctly fill-in-the-blank. Highly recommended.
Why is NxtApp for Kids an important app to download? The question below is taken from an actual state-standardized test (that my son just took) for third graders:
This is precisely the mental math muscle that NxtApp 4 Kids exercises.
The app offers five skill levels of addition and subtraction, which range from simple counting in Stage 1 (6, 7, 8, ?) to the far-more advanced Stage 5 (6, 14, 22, ?).
Each level presents 10 questions and the player's time is recorded so they can try to beat their high score the next time they play. NxtApp 4 Kids is essentially a test app, but the barnyard theme and music help to lighten the mood a bit.
The app is also Gamecenter connected so that a child/parent can see how the top scores compare to others, but I'm not a terribly big fan of that since there is no way to tell the age of those submitting the scores. I'd also like to see individual player IDs added so that different children using the same device can have their own set of high scores.
There are also plaque rewards, which can be emailed so children can share their accomplishments with friends and family.
The app is the second in the NxtApp series, with the original NxtApp geared toward older children and adults.
