Bottom Line: A simple and inexpensive app for young toddlers. Also, I'm apparently a sucker for really cute animals made of clay.

GoodieWords, which we rated 4 1/2 stars, is on sale for $1.99 (regularly $4.99)!
GoodieWords is an extraordinarily well-done children's app. The animation, graphics and sound are all outstanding and the interface works very fluidly.

Just three days ago, we reviewed the app Chuck and Friends, noting its quality but also that the price was a bit high compared to the other top ebook apps: "So, a good app for those about six and under, but a bit too expensive."
Price isn't a problem from now until Sept. 7, however, as Chuck and Friends is on sale for 99 cents ($3 off). It's a must buy at that price!

Several readers asked what happened to the Starfall apps, which had disappeared from the app store. I contacted Starfall and they told me that their apps were down due to a "clerical error with Apple" and would be back up soon. As of today, they are back in the iTunes app store!
Smart Apps has reviewed all three: Starfall ABCs, Starfall Snowman, and Starfall Gingerbread.
