Bottom Line: A terrific app that everyone in my family became obsessed with finishing. Inexpensive and very challenging. Highly recommended!
In Where's My Water?, Swampy the alligator "lives under the city and yearns for a more human-like existence." One of the things Swampy likes to do like humans is take a shower, but it's not easy for him to get access to a plentiful supply of water.
Players must dig a route from the water supply to his shower pipe in order to help him get clean. Swampy's underground surroundings are not an easy place for plumbing management, however, and obstacles include rapidly-growing algae, toxic ooze, acid, and, of course, underground bombs.
The app includes seven chapters with 20 levels each and there are three rubber duckies to collect on each level in order to "fully" complete it. There are also bonus items hidden in the dirt that can be collected to unlock bonus levels that are tilt-the-device games.
The app has a free trial and Disney also promises additional chapters will be included in future (free) updates. There is also an in app-purchase for 99 cents called "Cranky's Story" which adds a new storyline and 40 more levels.
The animation in Where's My Water? is exceptional. The physics work really well and sometimes the player has to be extremely meticulous in their digging to accomplish the goal. A few bits of dirt here and there can make all the difference.
I like games such as Where's My Water? for my kids because they teach trial-and-error, planning and, quite often, having to overcome a lot of frustration. I hesitate to give apps that aren't purely educational more than four stars, but Where's My Water? is excellent and well-worth the 99-cent download.
I (personally) enjoyed it far more than Cut The Rope or Angry Birds.
