In April, we rated this app and gave it 3-1/2 stars. Since then, it's been upgraded several times, addressing some of the potential improvements we mentioned in our review (always nice) and now it's FREE for a limited time!
i Learn with Boing has mini-games for letters, phonics and words!

i Learn with Boing has three big selling points that make it very intriguing among the overabundance of preschool apps in the App Store.
First, it has a tracking system that allows parents to see where the child is progressing in certain categories such as letters, phonics and words. The system incorporates several of Tribal Nova's apps in it, which is a nice way for a developer to try to sell their other apps in a less-aggressive way. The system tracks up to four players at a time and the difficulty of the apps increase based on their individual progress.
Second, the reward area, where the child can go to play with items unlocked by successfully completing the mini-games is terrific, perhaps the best in any app I have tested. I played Ice Land Adventures with Lily (4) and she was really enthralled by the rewards area, which features Boing (an alien who bounces around, making a boing sound) and some of his friends. Children can manipulate the aliens to pop bubbles with items in them, such as pies, and the items do different things when popped. The pie bubble for example send pies humorously crashing into the alien. The guitar bubble starts guitar music, etc. The app gets an A+ for the oft-boring reward area.
Third, the app is extremely cute. Boing is unique and funny and the games I will detail below feature baby polar bears on slides, baby seals sliding off the back of a whale, and helmeted baby penguins ice skating. The developers took special care to make everything adorable...and I don't throw such a word around lightly.
The app features three learning mini-games: one each for letters, phonics and words.

Every day we pick what we affectionately call the Good Free App of the Day, an app that we have downloaded, tested and certified: It can't have a ton of ads or just a little content with a lot of in-app purchases.
It also has to be good.
We then present them to you to read, download, and share so, based on which ones got the most hits, here are your Top 65 Favorite Free Apps!
We've done our best to only include apps that are permanently free, but sometimes developers do change their minds so please leave a comment if you find an app that's no longer free.
Enjoy!
