The Good Free App of the Day feature has become so Kardashian-like popular that we get flooded with emails from developers asking for their app to be selected. So much so that we had to install a form where developers can submit their app for consideration.
Today's GFAOTD is the first app we've selected from that new form and it's definitely on the other end of the Kardashian spectrum of lurid interests: PlayART teaches children about five of the world's most famous painters: Vincent Van Gogh, Paul Cézanne, Claude Monet, Henri Rousseau and Paul Klee. Aspiring young artists (of any age) can actually create their own art by using various items from those artists' original work. Brilliant!
It does have social media links, so be aware of that, and it's only free for about one more day from what I can tell! The regular price is $3.99.
** Only the app's developer can control when an app is free or not. All apps that we post as Good Free Apps of the Day are verified to be free at the time of this post. We make no guarantees otherwise. **
Play, learn and create. Experience art education at its best with PlayART by Tapook.
A unique art app that encourages children’s creativity through a playful and engaging activity of composition. Designed for children aged 5-13, but suitable for parents, too.
Discover five of the world’s most famous painters by playing with them: Vincent Van Gogh, Paul Cézanne, Claude Monet, Henri Rousseau and Paul Klee.
Now you can create artworks with elements, like objects and shapes, taken from their original paintings. No need for painting tools, or to know how to draw, just let your creativity run free!
You can move, rotate, resize, mirror, duplicate and arrange the elements in the way you like it, on the canvas of your choice. When you have finished, save your artwork in the My Museum gallery with a title and your name.
☛ Create a vase of sunflowers with Vincent Van Gogh’s sunflowers;
☛ A still life with Paul Cézanne’s apples and pears;
☛ A garden with Claude Monet’s waterlillies and the japanese bridge;
☛ A jungle with Henri Rousseau’s tropical plants and animals;
☛ A castle in the sun or a rose garden with Paul Klee’s geometric forms.
By selecting elements as your favorites, you can also combine the different artists’ styles: all you need is
your imagination to create your own artwork!
Five short videos with charming animated drawings, narrated entirely by children, tell you of the lives of the artists. You can also be inspired by a selection of their artworks in the gallery “Artists Museum”.
PlayART is a delightful family-friendly app that brings children and grown-ups alike closer to art.
« PlayART is a valuable educational tool. A fun art lesson, perfect for children aged between 5 and 13. » - Valeria, teacher at the Primary School Thouar-Gonzaga in Milan.
You can download the app in its entirety for free! But for the first week only.
PlayART main features:
☛ A video tutorial that guides you through the app
☛ Five short videos on the artists lives, narrated by children, with fun animated drawings and original paintings
☛ An "Artist Museum" gallery showcasing the artists' most famous paintings
☛ A "My Museum" gallery where you can save your artworks

Every day we pick what we affectionately call the Good Free App of the Day, an app that we have downloaded, tested and certified: It can't have a ton of ads or just a little content with a ton of in-app purchases.
It also has to be good.
We then present them to you to read, download, and share and, based on which ones got the most hits, here are your Top 100 Favorite Free Apps!
We've done our best to only include apps that are permanently free, but sometimes developers do change their minds so please leave a comment if you find an app that's no longer free.
Enjoy!
