Some of you may be familiar with Free App Friday at momswithapps.com, a group of family-friendly developers who offer a group of apps for free or a reduced price every Friday.
We've taken a look at the free apps available this week and have listed our general impressions and download links.
Most of these apps are free ONLY UNTIL 10 p.m. CDT U.S. so don't delay!
** Please note** Not all of the apps listed here are the level of quality we would expect for one of our Good Free Apps of the Day and we have not reviewed them or tested them extensively.
Spy Tools for Kids: iPhone-native. Cool app! Children can play spy by putting together a top secret ID with their picture (including disguise) , using a voice changer, verifying fingerprints and using night visions goggles. It may not be the best idea to teach kids the basics of making an ID, but it's fun.
Professor Kim - What's missing here?: We have a review of this app posting later today. The freebie today is the iPhone version.
Deanne: "Innovative and challenging memory game for one or two players that completely avoids the "matching pairs" cliche. Definitely worth a look."
The Opposites: We did a full GFAOTD feature on this here.
Deanne: "Simple to play - a boy and a girl shout words out and they accumulate on screen. You have to match each word to its antonym before the screen fills up. Correctly matching a gold-colored word to its opposite earns the kids onscreen a fruit snack, and you more time."
Annie's Picking Apples: My first impression is that's a very solid app. Kids have to sort by color, numbers with some counting and memory mixed in. Definitely download. (Annie is a squirrel.)
iPad iPhone
Toybox Racer: I'm looking forward to playing this one a bit more. For older kids. (7+). Tilt the screen to drive the toybox racer, including some jumps! I like.
The Animated ABC book of Machines: For iBooks. Animated ebook that isn't narrated, but might be a fun adult-kid read if your child is interested in vehicles.
Missing Letters - Vowels: Not a lot to it, but some basic vowel work if you need help in that area.
Learn Mandarin with Penyo Pal Dance Party: Looks terrific. I speak to someone regularly who has been trying to explain this to me and I finally get it! It's all in the inflection! Definitely download if learning Mandarin is of any interest to you, even if you're just a beginning adult.

Apple game for sorting great or fall. Thanks.
