Developer Mindshapes has made another one of their apps free for a limited time and it's a corker! Math and space seem to go together in app world which makes sense given that space exploration wouldn't be possible without math.
Cautionary note: there is a one-time link to Magic Town and the 'More Stuff' button on the homepage will take you to the developer's other apps in iTunes.
If you would like to download Meteor Math (FREE, iPad/iPhone) please support Smart Apps for Kids by using this link button:
** Only the app's developer can control when an app is free or not. All apps that we post as Good Free Apps of the Day are verified to be free at the time of this post. We make no guarantees otherwise. **
In this addictive, fast-paced, arcade-style game, you have to tap on meteors to solve math problems. If you get the formula right, the meteors blow up. If you get it wrong, alarms go off and the screen shakes - it's a good reminder that in the world of space, there's no room for error. (No pressure).
There's a Practice mode and once you're ready to get serious you can select either Compete or Challenge.
In Compete, choose from addition, subtraction, multiplication or division and play for a high score. Challenge mode automatically rotates between the four to keep you on your toes.
Gameplay is timed - you have to solve the problem presented before the at the top left of the screen red bar runs out. When time is running low, a klaxon starts blaring loudly. If you're looking for a relaxing, gentle app to practice math drills - this isn't it.
Things start off at a pretty easy level but as the game continues it automatically levels up and becomes progressively harder.
Not a game for the faint-hearted. Do you have the fortitude and capacity to think clearly and calmly under pressure in order to rid the galaxy of numbered meteors?!

Every day we pick what we affectionately call the Good Free App of the Day, an app that we have downloaded, tested and certified: It can't have a ton of ads or just a little content with a ton of in-app purchases.
It also has to be good.
We then present them to you to read, download, and share and, based on which ones got the most hits, here are your Top 100 Favorite Free Apps! Enjoy!
We've done our best to only include apps that are permanently free, but sometimes developers do change their minds so please leave a comment if you find an app that's no longer free.
