60 Minutes: First Words for children with Autism thanks to the iPad

iPads have been an important step in the evolution of technology because they help our kids learn developmental skills such as reading, writing, fine motor skills, mathematics etc etc.  They are also fun and they keep kids somewhat quiet and entertained.

However for some parents who have a child with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), an app can be literally life changing and give them the ability to communicate with their child for the first time ever.

60 Minutes aired a segment last night in Australia about how apps are changing the lives of families that have children with an ASD.  They also discuss important world-first research that is being conducted at the Beverly School in Toronto, Canada about how apps and iPads can unlock the hidden thinking of children with Autism.  

 

One of our readers Anne Masi and her beautiful daughter Gracie feature in the segment and now have fans world-wide whose hearts have melted every time they share a celebratory kiss!
