Kids are totally enamoured by the stars. Me, I'm just happy to know that the sun and the moon are pretty consistent about turning up when they should. But no, my little girl is now asking me all sorts of difficult questions about what she's seeing in the night sky.
Cue Star Chart. Download this little beauty, turn on the location finder so that the GPS can find you, point your device at the sky, and lo, it tells you what you are seeing! Such a face-saver for an unknowledgeable mother like me>: "Yes sweety, that's Mars (and not a shiny star with a cool reddish tint like I tried to tell you it was yesterday)".
There is a reason that this app is the best-selling augmented reality app on the app store. It's really very beautiful to use.
There are in-app purchases but unless you are really into your astronomy you're not going to need these, the basics of what you are looking at are all included in the start-off app price, which is FREE today!
