Bottom Line: Extensive dress-up-a-doll app with 400+ clothing and accessory options, including a dinosaur costume! It makes creative use of technology, and it’s even free to try (with in-app purchases). There are social media and external links, however, and the full set of items costs $4.99.

Bottom Line: A very useful social studies app for homeschoolers and teachers. Not a game, but educational vignettes of children from different countries which give a peek into their everyday life.

 

 

BRAND NEW Featured App - Tasty Tadpoles.

When I first read the title of this app from developer Mark White, I was a little nervous that someone was going to make me eat a tadpole which I am just not ok with on lots of levels.

Much to my pleasant surprise, no one offered me food. I was taken wayyyyy back to my childhood memories (ok, so they’re not that far back) to the video game Frogger, just…fishy-er.

Bottom Line: If you want your children to read the Bible every day, this app is perfect—free, engaging, and makes creative use of the iPad’s features.

Bottom Line: a very ambitious book app that introduces an entire world of alien characters that crash land on earth and make some interesting discoveries about our planet. Best for independent readers 9+.

I was perusing the educational app rankings in the iTunes App Store, as I am often wont to do, and noticed that an app released a week ago has already jumped into the top spot for free education apps (and is No. 20 among all free apps.)
