Bottom Line: Multipets: The Four Seasons by Dream Made is an imaginative free play app which allows children to explore the whimsical world of the Multipets. The app is divided into the four seasons, with the spring season being offered for free. The three additional seasons are available through in-app purchase. Children can see how the world of the Multipets changes with each season while discovering the 12 interactive mini games. There is no spoken or written language within the app. Children simply explore and play as they wish in a free play format.
Bottom Line: Grandpa in Space delivers excellent space-themed learning games about planets, shapes, math, opposites, sorting, and rhyming, as well as great video shorts from the International Space Station. Aimed at kids ages 5-8, this adventure is led by our spunky hero, Grandpa. Fairlady Media did a great job keeping the fun and learning evenly "spaced" to prevent boredom and encourage kiddos to travel unprompted.
Bottom Line: Monster ABC has a lot of good content and unique gameplay for children learning first letter sounds. Kids spin wheels and match letters to pictures while earning monsters. The games, however, can get a bit monotonous to users with short attention spans and may require adults hovering to keep kiddos on task.
Bottom Line: A fun book/game combination featuring creative interactions to teach kids about the letters of the alphabet. The graphics are in a steam punk style — very whimsical and fun. It’s sometimes a little hard to navigate, and would benefit from a little more user control, but overall this app is a great addition to the early learning market. There's even a spider named Bob.
The tap of a child's fingers bring changing shapes and colors and provides the wonderful sounds of a maraca and a marimba. Designed for children 0-5 years of age, TapTapToink will engage a child with sixteen different matching and puzzle activities that increase in difficulty.
Not only is this app a lot of fun for young children, it also allows children to practice visual association and logical thinking. A child will not even realize he is learning with the easy tapping and the fun sounds.
