Bottom Line: This well-designed tool for creating visual schedules and choice boards for individuals with autism and others comes with a huge symbol library and the ability to add photos, videos, text and voice to any routine.
Bottom Line: a customizable picture card AAC system that emphasizes communication and interaction rather than a "voice." It was developed by a mother of two autistic children.
Bottom Line: My son wouldn't be the spokesmodel for just any old AAC app. Out of a dozen AAC apps and an $8000 Dynavox, this is what we've found works best for us.

Use2talk is an easy to program and use augmentative communication program for use on the iPad. Using icons or photographs it provides non verbal and low verbal users an opportunity to communicate.
Unfortunately the developer hasn't provided any info on how long Use2Talk will be free so please support smartappsforkids.com and help us to spread the word far and wide by sharing this post. Great traffic numbers make us feel good about ourselves.
As a speech-language pathologist with an iPad, I have no shortage of articulation apps. One of them, Articulation Station, even earned a spot as a Top Pick based on my review. But SLPs know that sometimes the same apps over and over can get a little dull, even with several to choose from. Parents of kids with speech sound disorders also sometimes want something a little different and inexpensive for at-home practice. So here is a list of my top 10 off-label apps to make speech sound practice just a little more exciting.

(Also check out our other Autism Awareness Month Free & Reduced apps HERE!
April is Autism Awareness Month, with April 2 declared Worldwide Autism Awareness Day by the United Nations.
Heaps of developers set their apps to free or reduced during the month but this freebie is super-generous as it could give the gift of a voice to a non-verbal person.
Thumbs up to the developer Kevin Hanasyk for supporting our kids with Autism!!
Bottom Line: a customizable, all-in-one solution for assisting with some of the communication and behavioral difficulties of autism that proves bigger is better when it comes to special needs apps.
