4 Dice: Fraction Games is a good, but very challenging app for middle schoolers and up.
From iTunes: 4 Dice: Fraction Games hones the many concepts of fractions that include adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing through a series of game mode options. The game also enhances analytical thinking by providing the answer and requiring students to determine the appropriate equation.
I'm supposed to write my general impressions of an app for these ReviewForDev features, so I'll get straight to the point: This is a top-tier app.
The story (about how you can be a superhero by just helping people), graphics, sound and interaction are all way above average. It has two videos and games that work on counting, numbers and shape recognition.
Her Bottom Line: "Indiana Jones meets Pirates of the Caribbean, with some great multiplication table practice thrown in. Well-drawn graphics and a deep back story make math fun for ages 8-11."
We reviewed Puzzingo close to when it was released and gave it 4-1/2 stars, a high enough rating for us to make it a Top Pick. I stick by that rating now, although now most of the content requires in-app purchases with the entire deal costing a whopping $14.99. The base set is free, however, and there is a "daily preview" section where more puzzles can be played each day.
Have you ever wondered what's faster? A Ferrari or Fiat? A BMW or a Bugatti? A Bald Eagle or a Peregrine Falcon? A Boeing 747 Aircraft or an Airbus A380? A Great White Shark or a Killer Whale? An M1-Abrams Tank or a Hummer SUV?
In Tomo Garage, children are presented a wall of letters and a word (with the letters showing) and must pick the correct letters to spell the word before a timer runs out. If done in time, a picture is unveiled.
There is a garage area to visit when not playing the word game.
I really wanted to like iTooch Elementary School. It has tons of information - more than 18,000 exercises according to the iTunes description. It is well organized with different lessons, practice tests and tests so that children are brought along the material one step at a time.
