Here in the States we are getting ready to celebrate the 4th of July, otherwise known as Independence Day. There will be cookouts and fireworks and swimming and celebrating. And for a lot of folks, there will be travel. If you're going to be in the car with your family this weekend (or even if you aren't), why don't you take a look at this list of fun patriotic apps? You are bound to find something to occupy yourself or your little ones (and avoid yet another game of punch-buggy).
Happy 4th of July to all of our American friends! (And Happy Friday to the rest of you lovely folks!)
Is it just me, or does it feel like the more I have going on in my life, the worse my memory gets? And you've got a lot going on,too. The last thing you need is to start forgetting things . . . like missing that important meeting or appointment.
Kiddos' memories are important just like an adult's — sometimes their lives are as hectic as ours. That being said, we've grouped together this list of memory-improvement apps. Most are for everyday use and can be used by just about anyone, and we've even included one for the speech pathologist looking for tools to use in cognitive therapy. Scroll through this list and download a handful . . . before you forget!
Let me tell you a few things I love (in no particular order): my cats, a fantastic cup of coffee, baking, laughing until my stomach hurts, the smell of a brand new box of crayons, and working with preschoolers. While most of these things are irrelevant to you, you should know that working with the preschool population as a speech-language pathologist is what gets me out of bed every morning. Those runny noses, sticky fingers, and tiny grins have wiggled and giggled their way into my heart. That's why I feel like when it comes to apps geared for preschoolers, I'm not going to be satisfied with just any ol' thing.
What started out as a list of Top 10 preschool apps in the entire app store quickly grew to a list of 12, and has expanded even more into a list of 15! These puppies (er, apps) are the creme de la creme of what I, along with my other SAFK staffers, deem to be the absolute don't-miss-this-or-you-will-be-sad-the-rest-of-your-days kinds of apps for kiddos.
Each of these 15 apps is under $4 so for what you'd spend on a cup of coffee you only enjoy for a morning, you can get a quality kid's app that your kiddo under the age of six can enjoy over and over again. These apps are chock full of learning, numbers, counting, and shapes wrapped up nicely in a deceptively educational package that is sure to please your tiny app user.
So, what are you waiting for? Go see our favorite preschool apps and be sure to snag each one of them from the app store straight away using the handy links right on the page. ~Rachel J.
For Mother's Day this year, we want to find an app for every mom. Since there are so many different types of moms, we've made ten different categories, with ten different apps in each one. Today's list has apps for the active mom and the studious mom, with more lists to come each day this week. These apps are all for mom, so take back the iPad or iPhone from the kids for just a little bit, and enjoy some of the apps on this list.
Check back tomorrow for 20 more apps, and tell us your mom type and your apps! And don't miss our previous two posts: apps for expecting moms and fashionista moms, and for granola moms and career moms!
